Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has appealed to South Africans to throw their weight behind the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup season by going big on #BokFriday.
Kolisi appealed to supporters to wear their green and gold jerseys tomorrow and every Friday throughout the rugby season – all the way up and through the Boks’ Rugby World Cup campaign.
“It’s that time of year again where we would like supporters to wear our green and gold colours to support the national team,” said Kolisi.
“We launched our #StrongerTogether campaign a week ago, where we talked about the power of our nation and how when we are together, we are stronger. We would be really pleased if the public came out in their Springbok colours to show their support.”

The Springboks kick off their international season against Australia at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship.
A week later they meet New Zealand in Wellington and have back-to-back Tests against Argentina in August. The second of those will be the team’s farewell Test on 17 August at Loftus Versfeld in a Castle Lager Incoming Test.
Kolisi urged businesses – and schools on special days – to allow their staff (or pupils) to dress in their Springbok colours to help build national momentum before the team’s send off to Japan later this year.
Rassie Erasmus, national director of rugby, said that as much as their focus was on preparing and playing to win matches, the squad was attuned to the national sentiment and was lifted when they felt the nation behind them.
“It’s lekker when we feel the country behind us,” said Erasmus.
“The team can feed off the belief and the passion of the people. It’d be great if South Africans could show their team support for the team by wearing their Springbok jerseys every Friday.”
Fans can even have their selfies feature in the playing number of the jersey this year. It’s free, if you’re lucky in a random draw. Fans can register for the Faces On Numbers campaign byregistering here.
The first #BokFriday takes place tomorrow with SA Rugby urging supporters to stick to the official ASICS licensed merchandise and not fall for shoddy, counterfeit goods.
